Indoor Bowls rolls on at Palmwoods Hall

Indoor Bowls is a great sport that exercises the mind as well as the body.

It demands skill in understanding the use of the bias of the bowl, mastering judgement of distance and degree of turn in each particular carpet, and being able to plan and execute game strategies.

Described as a ‘thinking persons sport’ it provides a much-needed alternative to sports that rely on strength, agility and speed and is popular with current and former outdoor bowlers.

Palmwoods Indoor Bowls club meets every Tuesday and Thursday at Palmwoods Memorial Hall.

“We get about 30 players come and join us twice a week,” said President Les Mott. “New players are welcome and the first game is free. After that it’s $6 a game plus $20 for insurance and membership for the year.

“There’s no age limit. Our oldest players at the moment are in their 90s! December 3 is our last game of the year but we’re back in January for anyone who’s interested in fellowship, fun and gentle exercise.”

Palmwoods Indoor Bowls club meets: Tuesdays 9am-12.30pm. Thursdays 12noon-3pm.
